Police Officer First
Class Jerry Goglas
Officer
Jerry Goglas was born in Brooklyn, New York.
He is the youngest child
with two brothers and one sister.
Officer Goglas began
serving his community at the age of 9 as a Junior Firefighter
with the Wyandanch Volunteer Fire Company on Long Island.
While there he was
involved in all aspects of firefighting, heavy rescue
extrication and fire safety presentations.
Officer Goglas also
served as a Police Cadet with the Suffolk County Police
Department, from 1994 to 1998, where he was involved in project
“Kidcare,” and numerous others community organizations.
In 1998, Officer Goglas moved to Orlando to join the
Orlando Police Department where he spent nine years serving the
East Side of Orlando. While
attending the Criminal Justice Institute at Valencia Community
College, Officer Goglas was voted Class President by his peers.
From October 2007 until November 2008 Officer Goglas served on
Chief Demings Joint Anti-Crime Unit as part of Operation Delta.
This unit was responsible for a 10% reduction in violent crime
throughout the Parramore Community.
Officer Goglas brings
this crime fighting attitude back with him to East Orlando where
he will continue to work to make the community a safe and
livable place to live and work.
Officer Goglas has a strong work ethic, and has been
working since the age of 14, managing a video store by the age
of 16. Officer
Goglas worked within the Wyandanch School District where he
became a mentor to many students in the Community.
Officer Goglas moved onto the construction field for a
short while and in 1994 he was chosen to become a member of the
Suffolk County Police Department Cadet Program.
During this program Officer Goglas attended Suffolk
Community where he received an Associate Degree with
Distinction.
Officer Goglas is a strong advocate of proactive
involvement within the community, and has many ties in the
communities that he serves.
He is currently the Vice President of his Homeowners
Association and is active in three committees within the Orlando
Police Department.
Officer Goglas consistently looks for innovative
ways to tackle crime and looks forward to working within the
community and directly with the citizens that he serves as
District 2 Liaison.
Officer Goglas' father, a fellow volunteer
firefighter, retired from the New York City Sanitation
Department and his mother continues to work within the Wyandanch
School District. He
is married and a proud father of a 12 year-old daughter.
