Holds First Meeting
City of Orlando
Task Force o Work Over a 120-day
Period Developing Recommendations on
Proactive Public Safety Initiatives
WHAT: As a continuum to
the recently announced three-year
Public Safety Initiative, Mayor Dyer
established the Safe Orlando Task
Force, composed of 25
representatives from the community,
to work in tandem with the Orlando
Police Department to tackle
crime-related issues and help
develop a strategic action plan
using police, volunteer and
community resources.
The Safe Orlando Task Force is
holding its first meeting today and
will begin working on the objectives
set by Mayor Dyer, which include:
Analyze current crime data and
concerns in specific areas of the
community
Review of best practices proven
successful in other communities
Define the community “call to
action” and develop action plan to
increase and promote community
education/engagement
Identify available community
resources, any gaps and disconnects
Make recommendations for proper
allocation of community-based
resources, services and programs, or
creation of additional ones if
needed
WHEN: Tuesday, September 5 at
12 p.m.
Mayor Dyer and Task Force members
will be available to discuss
objectives of the group and next
steps.
