LEU GARDENS’ SUMMER CAMPS

ORLANDO, FL (June 27, 2003) – Leu Gardens is offering summer camps for children who like to explore their environment.

Leu Gardens has held camps for children each summer for more than 15 years. This year, the Gardens will offer Garden Detectives Camp -- for children ages 6 to 8 from July 7 through July 11 and Garden Explorers Camp -- for children ages 9 to 11 from July 21 through July 25.

The camps begin at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. (Garden Detectives) and 3 p.m. (Garden Explorers). Between 9:30 and 10:20 a.m., campers hike through the Gardens in search of seeds (Monday), insects and flowers (Wednesday), leaves (Thursday) and environmental concerns (Friday). Story time, during which campers share things they found in the garden, is from 11 to 11:40 a.m.

Summer camp activities also include plant activities, games, crafts and environmental artwork (plants, insects and animals).
