Explosive Training Prepares Responders for Emergency Situations
WHO: MAYOR BUDDY DYER ORLANDO FIRE DEPARTMENT ARSON/BOMB SQUAD WHAT: SUSPICIOUS DEVICE/ARSON DETECTION TRAINING WHEN: THURSDAY, AUGUST 21, 2003, 7 A.M. ***(MEDIA OPPORTUNITY BETWEEN 7 AND 8:30 A.M.)*** WHERE: ORLANDO CITRUS BOWL (WEST SIDE) ORLANDO, FL (August 20, 2003,) -- Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Thursday will suit up to join the Orlando Fire Department Arson/Bomb Squad during a suspicious device/arson detection training exercise at the Orlando Citrus Bowl. Mayor Dyer, who participates in regularly scheduled work-alongs, has pledged to go out to worksites and labor alongside Orlando’s more than 3,000 employees to gain a better understanding of the jobs that make-up the city’s workforce. The City of Orlando’s FBI-accredited Arson/Bomb Squad responds to more than 500 incidents per year, including fire/arson investigations, suspicious packages incidents and canine responses.
