MAYOR’S VETERANS ADVISORY COUNCIL TO HOST POW-MIA RECOGNITION DAY CEREMONY
ORLANDO, FL (September 18, 2003) – Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Friday, September 19, 2003, at noon at the Orlando City Hall Plaza will take part in a POW-MIA Recognition Day ceremony, hosted by the Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Council. POW-MIA Recognition Day is a day set aside nationally to recognize prisoners of war and those still missing in action from all wars. The half hour ceremony, emceed by Bud Hedinger, will include music from the VFW 2093 Community Band and soloist, Kay Garner, and a tribute by the POW-MIA Honor Guard from Winter Springs High School Army Junior ROTC. The event will also feature the setting of the POW-MIA table by cadets from UCF Air Force ROTC Detachment 159 and a wreath laying ceremony by veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm.
