DYER ACCEPTS DIX RESIGNATION WITH REGRET
ORLANDO, FL (December 11, 2003) -- Mayor Buddy Dyer today announced that he has accepted the resignation of his Chief of Staff David Dix with deep regret. “I met with David this morning and he expressed to me that it is in his best interest and the best interest of his family that he offer his resignation as my Chief of Staff. I accepted his resignation with regret, but appreciate and respect his wishes to spend more time with his young son and wife,” Dyer said. “David Dix has worked tirelessly on behalf of the people of this city and my administration. His energy and passion will be sorely missed around City Hall. But I know he and his wife Galina are looking forward to returning to the private sector,” Dyer said. “David will always be a close friend and confidant.” Dyer and Dix met with City Hall staff and appointed officials at 12:15 p.m. today to announce the change. City Attorney Wayne Rich will temporarily take over Dix’s duties when he departs City Hall on January 5th. “Wayne Rich will serve as both Chief of Staff and City Attorney for the duration of my first term in office,” Dyer said. “That will ensure a seamless transition as David and Wayne have worked closely together,” Dyer said.
