The Orlando Fire
Department is dedicated to
Produce
and distribute fire prevention safety literature, both
in English and Spanish. Maintain Smoke Detector Giveaway
Program for under-privileged elementary school children
and senior citizens through the National Safe Kids
Network Program.
Install
smoke detectors in low-income, high-risk areas to reduce
the number of Orlando-area children injured or killed in
fires and to reduce the number of childhood injuries.
Teach
fire safety issues, such as the hazards of playing with
matches, stop/drop/roll, and the proper procedures on
vacating a burning building, etc. both in classrooms and
in the department's Kids' Safety House , a mobile house
on wheels designed to teach fire safety techniques.
Provide
Fire Extinguisher training using films and "hands-on"
demonstrations.
Enforce
codes and standards pertaining to prevention of fire in
senior citizen occupancies.
