Highlights
:

The Dr. J.B. Callahan Neighborhood Center is located at the corner of Parramore Avenue and Washington Street. The programs are designed for children ages 5 -17, and adults. The center is also a host to an Orange County Head Start program and a variety of evening programs and activities for the community.

Programs:

After School Program (ages 5 – 10): Mon - Fri, 2: 00 – 6: 00 pm - Classes held after school in the classrooms and offer recreational activities, homework tutoring, reading and arts & crafts

Arts and Crafts (ages 5 -10): Days & Times vary call for more information, classrooms - The program is specifically for the students that are enrolled in the after-school program

Boy Scouts (ages 5-10): Tuesday, 5: 30 - 6: 30 pm - Callahan Boy Scouts program will provide educational program that is designed to build desirable qualities of character, to train in the responsibilities of participating in citizenship; and to develop personal fitness

Computer Lab (all ages): Monday - Friday, 8: 00 am - 2 pm - Open to general public; Saturday 10: 00 am – 7: 00 pm, open to general public

Girl Scouts (ages 5-10): Tuesday, 5: 30 - 6: 30 pm - Callahan Girl Scout program will provide interactive activities that will help build girls self esteem, courage, confidence and character

Head Start Program (ages 3 – 4): Mon - Fri, 7: 30 am – 2: 00 pm - Classroom, Pre-K class and associated activities

Orlando After-School All Stars (ages 11-14): Monday - Friday, 2: 30-8: 00 pm - A teen program offering computers, game room, tutoring, homework assistance and field trips

School Vacation Daze (ages 5-10): Dates vary - Program held when students are out of school during Orange County Public Schools holidays

Senior’s On The Move (55-over): Monday - Friday, 9: 00 - 11: 30 am - Active seniors will participate in walking & chair exercises, arts & crafts, movie day, social gatherings, and educational & cultural tours

UCF Reading Camp (ages 6-10): Saturdays 9: 45 - 11: 00 am, (Sept-Nov 2007) (Feb- May 2008) - For elementary students in grades 1-5, UCF College of Education students will tutor children in reading and parents will attend

Additional Programs Hosted:

OMYGA Youth Golf Program(ages 6 - 18): Friday, 6: 00 pm, auditorium and classrooms - Children learn basic golf education, and social skills

UCF McKnight Center of Excellence (ages 6 -18): 1st Tuesday each month 6: 30 pm, auditorium and classrooms - Teach children about college education, and social skills

YMCA Black Achievers: 2nd & 4th Thursday each month 6: 30 pm in the classrooms - Children learn about college education careers, and social skills
