Mission

The City of Orlando's Older Adult programs strive to provide quality recreational, educational and social programs to promote wellness and lifelong learning, while keeping older adults active and engaged in their community.

The City of Orlando’s Recreation Division operates two full-time older adult centers: Mayor William Beardall Center (downtown) and L. Claudia Allen Center (West Orlando). Both centers are state-of-the-art facilities featuring fitness rooms, classrooms, computer labs, and ballrooms for dancing and special events. Thousands of adults over 55 participate in nearly 100 classes, clubs, and programs offered every month. In addition, three other community centers offer programs for older adults –  Dr. J.B. Callahan Neighborhood Center, Engelwood Neighborhood Center, and Citrus Square Recreation Site. The City of Orlando has had a long partnership with the "Seniors First" lunch program. This valuable program is available at L. Claudia Allen Senior Center and Engelwood Neighborhood Center.

With a full schedule of classes, clubs and special events each month, Orlando’s Older Adult program offerings are a prime example of Orlando's commitment to keeping older adults involved in their community.
