The City’s
Forestry Program is responsible for the
care and maintenance of the trees in the
city, this includes parks, public
buildings and rights of way. Services offered
include trimming, removal (of dead,
dying, diseased or dangerous trees), and
inspection of trees on both city and
privately owned land.
Tree
Trimming
The
City employs professionally trained
arborists and an Urban Forester. The
Forester can inspect trees on private
property, but the City tree trimmers can
only work on trees on Public Property.
Tree
Removal Permit
Removal
of trees from private property requires
a permit if the tree is larger than 4
inches diameter at chest height. The
Tree Code Inspector will come to see the
tree; a permit will be issued if the
removal is warranted. There is a fee of
$25/ acre for private tree removals, and
$50/ acre for commercial removals.
These
services may be requested by contacting
the Parks Division at (407) 246-2283.
