The
City of Orlando encourages use of City parks by
residents in a safe, sanitary and aesthetically pleasing
atmosphere. Currently, the City is experiencing a steady
and significant increase in residential growth and a
corresponding growth in park usage by residents.
In response to numerous concerns of local residents and
business owners, the City of Orlando has passed an
ordinance that limits large group feeding in parks and
recreational facilities. Large Group Feeding is defined
as an event that includes the delivery or service of
food to 25 or more people in a City park or recreational
facility or on adjacent sidewalks or rights-of-way.
Unregulated large group feeding in public parks has
resulted in litter such as food, containers and other
food wrappings creating hazards to the health and
welfare of citizens. In addition, the public safety of
citizens that utilize these parks is of concern for the
level of current group feeding activity that has been
taking place at these facilities.
Large group feeding in public parks will be more
manageable with advance notice and regulation through a
permit system. Individuals or groups expecting to
attract 25 or more people in a large group feeding, can
pull a
permit at NO COST and the permit can be issued
immediately for eligible groups.
