The City of Orlando GIS was established in
1992 with a
five-fold mission to:
- Maintain key data sets that are
the underpinning information of Police, Fire, Engineering and
several other departments
- Operate as a
internal service program, providing clients with data as well as standard and customized maps
and reports.
- Consult with clients to assist
them in developing their requests for GIS information
- Act as a liaison
between the City and data partners that are external to the City in order to
promote the City’s interests in their data.
- Engage in research
and development to take advantage of improvements in GIS and data technology.
