Our journey starts deep below the earth in the Floridan Aquifer. The Floridan Aquifer is like a huge underground river that flows beneath the ground. Water in the aquifer comes to the surface naturally as fresh water springs. We get our water from the aquifer through a series of wells, which are holes drilled in the ground down to the water. The wells act like straws poked into the earth and allow us to pull water up from underground. The water is then pumped into a network of pipelines that eventually brings water right into our homes. When you turn on the faucet, water appears!
